NACC approves one of four witnesses requested by Yingluck

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) on Thursday approved only one additional witness to testify for the caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinwawatra who was charged of negligence and malfeasance in the rice-pledging scheme.
Yingluck had requested to add four more witnesses to include in a team of three other witnesses earlier approved by the NACC.
The national anti-graft body made an appointment with Pol Maj Gen Thawat Boonfueng, deputy secretary general to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs, as an additional witness, to testify on April 17 at 1.30pm.
Three rejected witnesses include caretaker deputy premier Chalerm Yoobumrung, Deputy Police Chief Gen Worapong Chewprecha, PM’s Office minister Varathep Ratanakorn.
Meanwhile, caretaker Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong will testify to the anti-graft body on April 18 as requested because he would have to attend the World Bank meeting at Washington DC during April 9-12. Caretaker Commerce Minister Niwatthamrong today testified to NACC for Yingluck.
