Agencies are ruining the foreigner teaching profession. Literally, anyone can start an agency and Thais are cashing in by creating an agency then skimming from your salary. Thai agencies will help Thais in the school so you don't have a chance. You would think that an agency would assist you but rarely does that happen. Before, you could expect to work for a school for several years which gives you a certain comfort level. Now, schools are using agencies where you may only be working for 6 months versus a year. Agencies have teaching in Thailand very fluid and there is a lot of back stabbing from the agencies.
BTFS brags about foreigner management but don't be fooled. Their management is ruthless and terribly mismanaged. Effectively, you are managed by Thais that think they are in a corporate environment where you need to perform to their expectations and the Thais (of course) do whatever they want. The "foreigner management" will sacrifice you like a piece of meat. Run away from this agency.
This agency operates out of west Bangkok and should be avoided unless you are really, really, desperate. Although they pay a bit more than average for the area, the owner clearly despises foreigners and only uses them as an end to a means.
First impressions the owner seems friendly but she is a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. She typically will hire a foreigner hoping she can run off a couple while collecting off-month salaries like October, March and, May while she collects from the school under contract. She hires a new foreigner for a non-one year contract and keeps the difference. This is her vacation money and she goes globe trotting during the summer months.
The fangs come out quickly and you are left scrambling for another job.
If you dive into this one, be sure you keep looking for another job because you will soon need it.
Engineer Art (My Heart Global Education). Avoid at all costs!!!!
Sent me a contract and then changed the entire contract upon my arrival. In the initial contract they said the would reimburse for visa runs and pay for transportation, etc, and too many other things to mention. Upon getting here they changed all of that to where they pay nothing and reimburse you for nothing.
They are supposed to arrange for your bank account, even according to the revised contract. I asked them about it and I was told to go do it myself. I don't speak Thai nor do I know the banking laws here. Even with this aside, Thai business people are generally rude to foreigners and treat you like s**t. But you can not point out to them that they think you treat them badly. Because they will fire you for it. You are disrespecting their culture.
Anyway, avoid this agency like the plague. They will screw you over in a heartbeat!!!
