PDRC applies new technology to gain the public ear.
The anti-government People's Democratic Reform Committee has adopted new technologies to encourage public participation in its reform campaign.
PDRC spokesman Akanat Promphan said it would use an electronic voting system to evaluate opinions from its national reform forum. He said PDRC staff would choose 50 people registered in the forum to sit in a sample room. After the forum ends, participants would be asked to vote on the electronic system displayed on a screen in front of the sample room in real time.
Akanat said his team would coordinate with an academic team in each forum and ask questions.
PDRC kick-started its national reform process for the first time on Monday with forums joined by academics and the protesters in Bangkok's Lumpini Park.
Over the next two weeks the forums - held near the PDRC's protest site - are scheduled to cover eradication of poverty and inequality, tackling corruption, decentralisation, restructuring the police and the judiciary as well as election, political-party and civil-service reforms.
"In one part, the PDRC and our supporters have a one-way communication from PDRC leaders to our supporters. [But now] we want to make two-way links between PDRC leaders and protesters. We are creating technology to bring these connections together," Akanat said.
For the voting system, PDRC is developing mobile applications for its supporters to download information.
For older more conventional communication channels such as e-mail's RestartingThailand@gmail.com and its Facebook page, the group plans to improve the format for greater efficiency, the spokesman said.
